Description

Penstrep 20/25 is a sterile injectable solution combining Procaine Penicillin G (200,000 IU/ml) and Dihydrostreptomycin Sulfate (250 mg/ml). This combination provides a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect against various bacterial pathogens in livestock, including cattle, horses, pigs, calves, sheep, and goats.

Indications:

  • Respiratory Infections: Effective against pathogens like Pasteurella spp. causing pneumonia.

  • Uterine Infections: Treats metritis in cattle and other livestock.

  • Alimentary Tract Infections: Addresses gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

  • Mastitis: Manages udder infections in dairy animals.

  • Osteomyelitis: Treats bone infections resulting from bacterial invasion.

  • Peritonitis: Effective against abdominal cavity infections.

  • Septicemia: Manages systemic bacterial infections.

  • Cystitis: Addresses urinary bladder infections.

  • Joint-ill: Treats joint infections, particularly in young animals.

  • Secondary Bacterial Infections: Manages infections secondary to viral diseases.

Target Animals:

  • Cattle

Dosage & Administration:

  • Cattle and Horses: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight, administered intramuscularly once daily for 3–4 days.

  • Calves, Sheep, Goats, and Pigs: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight, administered intramuscularly once daily for 3–4 days.

  • Administration Site: Do not administer more than 20 ml per injection site in cattle and horses, 10 ml in pigs, and 5 ml in calves, sheep, and goats.

  • Preparation: Shake well before use.

Withdrawal Periods:

  • Meat: 10 days post-treatment.

  • Milk: 3 days post-treatment.

Precautions:

  • Hypersensitivity: Avoid use in animals with known allergies to penicillins, procaine, or dihydrostreptomycin.

  • Renal Function: Use with caution in animals with impaired kidney function.

  • Concurrent Medications: Avoid simultaneous use with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides, or lincosamides due to potential antagonistic effects.

  • Administration: Not recommended for intravenous administration.

  • Pregnancy: Use with caution in pregnant animals; consult a veterinarian before use.

Storage:

  • Store in a cool, dry place between 2°C and 15°C, away from direct sunlight.

  • Keep out of reach of children.
