Description

Duplocillin LA is a long-acting injectable antibiotic containing a combination of procaine benzylpenicillin (150,000 IU/mL) and benzathine benzylpenicillin (150,000 IU/mL). This formulation is designed for the treatment of infections caused by penicillin-sensitive bacteria in various animal species, providing sustained therapeutic levels from a single injection.

Active Ingredients:

  • Procaine Benzylpenicillin: 150,000 IU/mL

  • Benzathine Benzylpenicillin: 150,000 IU/mL

Indications:

  • Horses: Treatment of infections such as metritis, strangles, and tetanus.

  • Cattle: Management of conditions like blackleg, foot rot, metritis, and shipping fever complex.

  • Sheep: Effective against clostridial diseases and foot rot.

  • Pigs: Treatment of erysipelas, mastitis, and metritis.

  • Dogs and Cats: Management of metritis, respiratory infections, and wound infections.

Dosage/Application:

  • Administration Route: Deep intramuscular injection.

  • Dosage Rate: 1 mL per 10 kg of body weight, equating to 30,000 IU of penicillin per kg.

  • Example Dosages:

    • Cattle (500 kg): 50 mL

    • Sheep (50 kg): 5 mL

    • Horse (500 kg): 50 mL

    • Pig (50 kg): 5 mL

    • Dog (10 kg): 1 mL

    • Cat (5 kg): 0.5 mL

  • Administration Frequency: Repeat the injection every 24 hours for up to 5 days, depending on the severity of the infection and veterinary advice.

Precautions:

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

  • Administration: Use sterile equipment and maintain proper hygiene during injection to prevent infection.

  • Contraindications: Avoid use in animals with known hypersensitivity to penicillin.

  • Pregnancy and Lactation: Consult a veterinarian before use in pregnant or lactating animals.
