On June 2nd, 2025, Farming in Africa (FIA) reached an important milestone in our journey to reshape Africa’s livestock industry. Our CEO, Mr. Fredrick Benneh Frimpong, was honoured to join a high-level engagement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)—a globally respected institution at the forefront of agri-food systems transformation.

This engagement wasn’t just a meeting. It was a moment of strategic alignment between two entities driven by a shared purpose: building a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food future.

Purpose Meets Purpose: The 4Bs and Our Mission

The FAO’s operational framework—Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment, and Better Life—is more than a slogan. These “4Bs” embody a systemic approach to agriculture that resonates deeply with our own.

At FIA, we are not in the business of agriculture for its own sake. We exist to solve Africa’s livestock challenges from the ground up: nutritional deficits, poor genetics, climate vulnerabilities, and youth disengagement from farming. Every hay bale sold, every bootcamp organized, and every pasture innovation tested is part of a bigger mission—to unlock the potential of Africa’s livestock value chain.

From Humble Beginnings to Scalable Solutions

During the conversation, Fredrick recounted his early experiences in cattle farming—stories marked by trial, error, and the scarcity of localized feed solutions. Those challenges planted the seed for what would eventually grow into the Semanhyia Learning & Development Farm in Suhum.

Today, Semanhyia is a living laboratory of livestock innovation. Among our most transformative contributions is Semanhyia Grass—a nutrient-rich forage breakthrough that is improving feed quality, boosting farmer productivity, and promoting sustainable land use across the continent.

Why Collaboration Matters Now More Than Ever

The FAO team recognized the tangible impact of our grassroots work and shared our belief that the future of African agriculture must be:

  • Collaborative: Leveraging local insights and global partnerships.

  • Innovative: Testing and scaling what works—like Semanhyia Grass.

  • Data-Driven: Using real metrics to track farmer outcomes and land health.

Our dialogue with FAO reinforced what we’ve always known—Africa’s agricultural renaissance will not come from isolated efforts, but from ecosystems of committed changemakers.

Beyond the Farm: Rewriting Africa’s Agricultural Narrative

Farming in Africa is not just a company. We are a movement—of farmers, scientists, educators, and innovators—working to reshape how livestock farming is perceived, practiced, and powered.

As we look ahead, partnerships with global institutions like FAO will help us deepen our impact, empower smallholder farmers, and scale climate-smart practices that secure a better future for generations to come.

We are excited for what lies ahead, and we remain committed to turning agricultural potential into transformational power—one solution at a time.
