Public-Private Synergies for Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture

On June 30th, 2025, Farming in Africa (FIA) deepened its mission to transform agriculture into a powerhouse of youth employment and economic resilience. Our team, led by CEO Mr. Fredrick Benneh Frimpong, paid a working visit to the National Youth Employment Agency (YEA), where we were graciously received by Director Mr. Malik Basintale and his team.

This wasn’t just a courtesy call. It was a pivotal engagement built on a shared vision—a Ghana where agriculture, especially livestock farming, becomes a thriving engine of opportunity for the next generation.

Youth Unemployment and the Livestock Opportunity

At FIA, we believe that solving Africa’s youth unemployment crisis requires bold, context-driven approaches. Agriculture—and more specifically, livestock farming—remains one of the most underleveraged sectors with the power to deliver scale, sustainability, and socioeconomic upliftment.

Our discussions with YEA focused on this very potential:

  • How can we modernize agriculture to appeal to the youth?

  • What practical pathways exist to transition young people into agri-entrepreneurs?

  • How can we leverage research, innovation, and training to create dignified jobs across the livestock value chain?

Strategic Collaboration for Systemic Change

The outcomes of our meeting made one thing clear—public-private partnerships are essential to the transformation we seek. While governments provide scale, infrastructure, and policy support, private sector players like FIA bring agility, grassroots insight, and tested solutions.

This synergy unlocks possibilities such as:

  • Launching livestock-based incubation programs for youth

  • Establishing regional model farms as training and employment hubs

  • Introducing climate-smart and tech-integrated practices that reflect the future of farming

Together, FIA and YEA are exploring frameworks that combine strategic policy with hands-on experience—building not just jobs, but meaningful careers and livelihoods for Ghanaian youth.

From Vision to Action

This engagement reinforces what we’ve always known: transforming agriculture is not just about food—it’s about futures.

By empowering young people through agriculture, research, and entrepreneurship, we are addressing more than unemployment. We are fueling rural development, building resilient economies, and laying the foundation for a self-sufficient continent.

Our Commitment Remains Unwavering

Farming in Africa is not just solving problems—we are creating pathways. Our commitment to livestock innovation, youth empowerment, and systems change remains at the heart of everything we do.

As we move forward with the National Youth Employment Agency and other stakeholders, we are more convinced than ever that the future of agriculture is youth-led, tech-enabled, and purpose-driven.

We’re proud to be building that future—one strategic partnership at a time
