At Farming in Africa, we believe the journey to a food-secure continent starts not just on the farm—but also at the table. That’s why our participation in the 5th Ghana Poultry Day celebration wasn’t simply ceremonial—it was strategic.

On this remarkable occasion, our CEO, Fredrick Benneh Frimpong, joined a gathering of Members of Parliament, CEOs, celebrities, and key government officials—not just to talk policy, but to put advocacy into action… as an Advocate Chef.

Yes, you read that right.

A Light Moment With a Deeper Message

Donning an apron, Fred participated in a unique challenge—preparing a locally bred poultry dish to promote the nutritional and economic benefits of consuming Ghanaian poultry. But behind the laughter and tastings was a powerful message:

Local poultry is more than food—it’s a tool for national development.

The Ghana Poultry Festival exists to advocate for the patronage and consumption of poultry raised and processed right here in Ghana. It champions the entire value chain—from hatcheries and feed producers to smallholder farmers and processors—who are often overlooked yet essential to our country’s agricultural resilience.

Why FIA Was There

At Farming in Africa, poultry is not just one of our livestock specialties, given our history—it is a vehicle for youth employment, improved nutrition, and economic empowerment.

We joined the celebration because:

  • We believe local solutions must be celebrated, scaled, and supported.

  • We are committed to addressing the systemic challenges facing Ghana’s poultry sector: from import dependence and feed shortages to lack of cold chain infrastructure.

  • We know that food choices influence food systems—and leaders must be seen leading by example.

When Advocacy Meets Action

Fred’s appearance as an advocate chef was not a publicity stunt—it was a symbolic gesture of leadership, showing that champions of livestock development must be visible, vocal, and grounded.

His participation aligns with FIA’s broader mission:

  • To redefine livestock farming as a tool for transformation, not survival.

  • To inspire new generations to see value in local breeds, homegrown feed, and circular economies.

  • To bridge the gap between policy, practice, and the plate.

A Toast to the Future of Local Poultry

As Ghana and Africa prepare to meet rising food demand, our poultry industry must no longer sit on the margins. Events like Ghana Poultry Day provide a platform to remind stakeholders that the health of our livestock systems is tied to the health of our economy and people.

We are proud to have stood among decision-makers and influencers who participated in the poultry day celebration. And we’ll continue to be part of the movement—not just feeding Ghana, but shaping a livestock narrative that uplifts everyone in the chain.

Farming in Africa
We’re not just in the business of livestock—we’re building a future where farming feeds dreams.
