At Farming in Africa (FIA), we believe that real transformation in agriculture begins where it matters most — on the ground, with farmers. That philosophy came to life once again during our 6th Goat Farm Management Training Bootcamp, an intensive hands-on training organized by FiaKare, the training and capacity-building arm of FIA.
Despite heavy rains, the bootcamp proved to be a resounding success, drawing passionate participants from:
- Ghana
- Nigeria
- Liberia
- The United Kingdom
- And beyond!
Through a powerful blend of field-tested knowledge, practical education, and real-farm experience, the event once again demonstrated FIA’s commitment to empowering the livestock industry with the skills it needs to thrive.
A Practical Approach to Transforming Goat Farming
The bootcamp was designed to go beyond theory and immerse participants in the day-to-day realities of goat farming. Over the course of the program, attendees engaged in deep-dive sessions covering the full spectrum of goat production:

- Improving genetic potential through strategic breeding programs
- Introduction to artificial insemination and recordkeeping for tracking performance
Housing and Infrastructure
- Designing low-cost, durable, and scalable goat housing
- Optimizing space for animal welfare and disease prevention
- Best practices for sanitation and ventilation
Feeding and Nutrition Strategies
- Formulating balanced rations for goats using locally available resources
- Using forage crops like Semanhyia Grass and hay to improve nutrition
- Strategies for dry season feeding and feed preservation
Health Management
- Disease prevention through proactive management
- Vaccination protocols and parasite control
- Early disease detection and treatment approaches
Business and Recordkeeping Essentials

Tailored Learning Experiences for Every Farmer
Participants selected from four package options — Standard, Gold, Platinum, or Online — each offering tailored access to practical insights and personalized learning experiences.
Under the guidance of Farming in Africa’s dynamic team, led by Founder & CEO Fredrick Benneh Frimpong, every participant had the opportunity to interact directly with experienced trainers and learn from real-world farming systems at the Semanhyia Learning & Development Farm.
A Global Community of Changemakers
One of the most inspiring aspects of the bootcamp was its diversity. The energy, engagement, and commitment of this international cohort reinforced FIA’s core belief:
“When we train one farmer well, we impact an entire community.”
The shared experiences between participants from different countries fostered valuable peer-to-peer learning and sowed the seeds for future collaborations across Africa and beyond.
Building a Movement for Sustainable Livestock Transformation
At FIA, we know that building Africa’s livestock industry isn’t about technology or genetics alone — it’s about people. Through initiatives like our Goat Farm Management Training Bootcamps, we are empowering farmers with the practical skills they need to:
- Scale their businesses responsibly
- Improve animal welfare
- Increase profitability
- Contribute to food security and economic resilience in their communities
